Solubility of gases and vapors in biological media: a simple correlation

1993
Abstract A simple correlation of the solubility of gases and vapors, including inhalation anesthetics, in some biological media is proposed. The correlation requires only the critical temperature and pressure of the solute gas in addition to the solubility coefficient. The correlation is shown to be applicable to a large number of gases and vapors dissolved in blood ghost cells, brain tissue, muscle, plasma, and also in olive oil (a model for the lipoid domains of the cell membrane).
