Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Artificial intelligence has rapidly become an area of intense research within medical informatics. In particular, machine learning has shown promise in assisting radiologists to prioritize studies and avoid observation errors. Other applications, such as radiomics, may allow evaluation of imaging features that are too subtle for the human eye to detect. But this new technology also has drawbacks and caveats that must be understood as it becomes more extensively deployed.
