Stability in turbulence: The interplay between shocks and vorticity in a superfluid with higher-order dispersion

The authors study the shock-wave propagation and dissipation within a spatially asymmetric two-component Bose-Einstein condensate with spin-orbit coupling in a joint experimental and theoretical study. Highly nonlinear dynamics with higher-order dispersion in an ultracold atomic system are observed and investigated.
