A Novel Method to Broaden the Bandwidth of EBG Structures

The equivalent circuit model for electromagnetic band-gap structure (EBG)is analyzed in this paper,and also the methods of broadening the bandwidth of band-gap are studied.A novel method,which is called"United Cells Method",to broaden the bandwidth of band-gap of EBG structure is proposed.The correction and validity are confirmed,by the results of software-simu- lations and experiments,using mushroom-like EBG structure with spiracle inductance on patches.This method gives a novel mind to broaden the bandwidth of EBG structures.
