Determination of MTBE in Water by Headspace Gas Chromatography

A method for the determination of MTBE in water by headspace gas chromatography was investigated.The effects of salting-out,the headspace thermostat temperature and time on the determination of MTBE were studied.The limit of determination was 0.024 4 μg/L.The recovery was above 89.4%～100.3%,at the 0.740～370.0 μg/L added standard concentration level.The relative standard deviation for determining MTBE standards(n=9) was 1.2%～2.7%.The linear range for the determination of MTBE was 0.037～7.400 mg/L,regress equation was y = 857.51 x+19.10,and the correlative coefficient was 0.999 4.The linear range was 0.37～37.0 μg/L,y = 2.106 x+0.259,and the correlative coefficient was 0.999 2.The method is easy to operate and is used to determinate MTBE in water.
