French national histological brain tumor registry.

e13051 Background: National brain tumor registries exist only in few countries, and systematic brain tumor declaration is not mandatory in many countries. Here we propose an easy method to build a national registry for primary central nervous system tumor (PCNST) with histological validation, and we present the results at national level. Methods: The French Brain Tumor DataBase (in agreement and with the active participation of Scientific Societies involved in neuro-oncology in France) identified all newly diagnosed and histologically confirmed (according to the WHO classification) PCNST patients in metropolitan France (population in 2008: 62 134 866 inhabitants), since 2006 and prospectively collected initial data.
