Circularly Polarized Phased Array using Sequential Rotated Technique for Ku-band Application

2019
In this paper, a stripline fed circularly polarized (CP) phased array with sequential rotated technology is proposed for satellite applications in Ku-band. The antenna element is designed based on multilayer PCB process. It is composed of SIW cavity, aperture coupling slot, hollow cavity, and stacked patches. CP operation is realized by truncated corner. The array presents the advantages of light weight, low profile and wide scan performance. The design has been constructed with a 8×8 (64 element) array. Results show that the array achieves stable gain when scanning up to ±60°in all azimuth planes, and the 3-dB axial ratio (AR) in the mainlobe region is lower than 3 dB when scanning. Numerical Results of full-wave simulation by virtue of HFSS demonstrate the design.
