Formation of a Microcrystalline Structure in a VT5-1 Alloy during Uniaxial Compression at 800 and 900°C

2020
The influence of the state of stress on the dynamic recrystallization characteristics and the deformation behavior of the VT5-1 α-titanium alloy during compression at temperatures of 800 and 900°C in the strain rate range 4.0 × 10–5–6.0 × 10–3 s–1 is studied. The effects of the temperature, the strain rate, and the hydrostatic component of the state of stress on the fine structure, the texture, the grain size, and the grain misorientation distribution are found. The grain size and the intensity of dynamic recrystallization during compression at 900°C are shown to become strongly dependent on the strain rate. An increase in the hydrostatic component of the stress tensor decreases the average grain size and the volume fraction of recrystallized grains.
