Study on the rules of the Volatile Organic Compounds Released from Surface Coating in a Simulated Indoor Surroundings Test Chamber

2011
The effects of various simulated test conditions, including expose area, temperature, humidity, light source and ventilation,on the concentrations of the volatile organic compounds(VOCs) released from surface coating in a Simulated Indoor Surrounding Test Chamber were studied.A bi-component solvent based coating was coated on wood board and used as representative test sample. The concentrations of the released VOCs were measured by one-step thermal desorption gas chromatography. It was found that in closed surrounding, the concentrations increased obviously as increasing the expose area, temperature and humidity, and the concentrations under a common blue fluorescence lamp or a 365nm ultraviolet lamp were around twice as large as that under a common white light fluorescence lamp.It was also found that the concentrations could be decreased greatly via a natural or mandatory ventilation.
