Cross Cultural Adjustment of Military Families Overseas

1978
Abstract : The military family represents an important factor in the success of the serviceman assigned overseas. This review of the cross cultural literature addresses a number of issues, germane to the adjustment of military families overseas. Many of these issues involve strains related to culture shock, language deficiency, relocation, financial difficulties, social isolation, and health problems. A number of recommendations regarding screening, selection, and the general attenuation of overseas adjustment difficulties are articulated.
