Innovative biotemplates for the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles with versatile morphologies

2021
ZnO nanoparticles with different morphologies were prepared via the biotemplate method. The microstructure of synthesized nanoparticles was found to depend strongly on the type of biotemplate used. Nanoparticles and platelet-like structures with high crystallinity were obtained. The prepared nanostructures were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) techniques. Photocatalytic activity of the produced ZnO was examined for methyl orange (MO). High catalytic activity was depicted for ZnO nanoparticles prepared with turmeric powder for the removal of MO dye.
