Influence exerted by dynamic effects on the stability of foundations beds of structures

1999
A method is developed for calculating the bearing capacity of foundation beds for the plane problem with allowance for arbitrarily directed dynamic inertial forces of the soil both below and above the lower surface of the foundation, which develop during oscillations and the propagation of seismic waves. Recurrent formulas are derived for numerical solution of the boundary problems by the finite-difference method for any direction of the load on the foundation. The coefficients that enter into the working formulas are tabulated as a function of the strength characteristics of the soil and a dynamic-response parameter, which characterizes the level, frequency, and direction of the vibratory or seismic effect.
