Antibody Specificities in Glomerulonephritis: An Odyssey from Mouse to Man
1986
AVERY LARGE PROPORTION of glomerular diseases is the result of immunologic injury. Light microscopic, ultrastructural, and immunohistologic examination of renal biopsy specimens allow us to recognize patterns of glomerular damage that may be correlated with clinical symptoms, prognosis, and response to therapy. The understanding of the pathogenesis of immunologically mediated glomerular disease is hampered by the paucity of our knowledge about the specific antigens involved in those diseases.
