TIPS in Egyptian Hepatic Schistosomiasis

Hepatic sehistosomiasis is the most common cause of portal hypertension in the world. Two to three hundred million people are infected by Sehistosomidae in more than 75 tropical and intertropical endemic countries (KLOTZ et al. 1991 ). Sixty million individuals are infested by Schistosoma mansoni alone and overall more than 500,000 deaths eaused by the disease are registered per year (DOUMENGE et al. 1987).
