A Novel Dual Polarized Tunable Frequency Selective Surface With Varactors

2019
In this paper, a novel dual polarized varactor-tuned frequency selective surface with embedded bias-network is presented. The proposed FSS is composed of a dielectric slab and a metallic layer. Symmetric meandered square loop geometry is chosen as an FSS geometry in order to achieve miniaturization and insensitivity for polarization. Tuning is realized by loading four varactor diodes around the meandered loop slot. Analyzes of the FSS are carried out in CST. The simulation results shown that the resonant frequency can be adjusted from 3.8 GHz to 5.76 GHz by changing the loaded varactors.
