Conclusion: Developing a Theoretical Framework of International Student Mobility

This concluding chapter summarises the key discussions in the book, whilst making suggestions around the future of international student mobility in the UK. It considers the influence of Brexit upon mobility as well as hinging the discussion around three key findings—first how mobility reinforces a neoliberal agenda, second how this delivers a student consumer and third how students tend to view themselves as pioneers (in conflict with the first two findings). The chapter concludes by offering suggested directions for future research.
