Contribution of the collective dipole radiation mechanism to the far IR spectrum of liquid water

1995
A doublet structure of the IR band of water for frequencies below 100 cm{sup -1} is explained within the framework of the model of collective dipole radiation. The frequencies of the doublet components that agree with the experimental results are calculated. The model also gives the temperature dependences of the doublet intensities and frequencies that agree with the experimental ones. 4 refs., 1 figs.
