Awareness of hypertension and hyperlipidemia in residents of Wenzhou City

Objective To investigate the awareness of hypertension and hyperlipidemia among city residents,and to provide a scientific basis for prevention and control.Methods Multi-stage random sampling method was used to select 755 people aged 15-69 years in three representative counties(districs) of Wenzhou,and questionnaire surveys were conducted among them.Results Among the participants,16.6%never taken their blood pressure;32.6%of diagnosed hypertensive patients had no regular blood pressure checks and only 36.8%of them obeyed the doctor's dose advice;58.70%of them never taken the serum lipid examination.Conclusion The awareness of hypertension and hyperlipidemia was low in residents of Wenzhou City.It is important to carry out community-based interventions focusing on the non-medicine treatment for disease control and prevention.
