Michael William Leitrim Clements

General practitioner Kenilworth, Warwickshire, 1947-85 (b Burton-on-Trent 1918; q Birmingham 1942), d 1 September 2001. After qualifying, Mike served in the Royal Army Medical Corps in Europe and at the end of hostilities continued to serve in the army of occupation. Following demobilisation, he came to Kenilworth, working singlehanded for 12 years. As the practice grew, partners were taken in. Eventually the surgery moved to a purpose built building. Mike had always been interested in sport, gaining blues in tennis, hockey, and swimming at the University of Birmingham. He was also an accomplished artist and fly fisherman and he played the accordion. He leaves a wife, Megan; three children; and seven grandchildren.
