Implementación del secador solar de túnel tipo Hohenheim en productos agrícolas: Revisión de literatura

2016
The Hohenheim-type solar dryer was developed in the University of Hoheheim (Germany) in the mid – 1980s. Thanks to its ease of construction and operation, the drier has been successfully used for drying a great variety of agricultural products in countries located in tropical areas. This article presents a literature review of published experimental work on the implementation of this kind of dryers. The main features of the dryer in relation to its components, their geometric configuration and materials as well as changes made to the original design are presented. The operating parameters used in drying a variety of agricultural products and the efficiency values for the dryer and its individual components are presented as well. The values are organized in tabular form in order to facilitate the comparison and evaluation of performance of this dryer in different agricultural products. The information presented is a tool for planning and designing new dryers of this type and for evaluating the thermal performance of existing dryers.
