Hematologic and Oncologic Emergencies

This chapter will comprehensively address hematologic and oncologic emergencies beginning with disorders involving anemia, including sickle cell anemia. It will detail the emergencies of transfusion, including emergent intervention. This chapter will also detail disorders of hemoglobin, tests for bleeding, hemolytic anemia, and platelet disorders. It will also discuss malignancy and its concomitant complications. This chapter will additionally provide the learner with information regarding laboratory assessment if required as well as with information regarding imaging (if required) that is essential for passing examinations.
