Clinical characteristics and therapy for 139 cases of perianal condylomata acuminate

2011
Objectives:To observe the clinical characteristics of perinanal condylomata acuminate(CA) and the therapeutic effect of CO2 laser treatment. Methods:The clinical characteristics and CO2 laser therapeutic effects were observed for a total of 139 cases with perianal CA who had their outpatient visit to our hospital from December,2008 to March,2010.A follow-up study was also made six months after the last treatment. Results:Perianal CA were mostly common in the age group of 19-45 and a large percent(46.8%) of patients were found to frequently visit the bathing center. The classic cauliflower skin lesion accounted for 70.5% of CA occurrence.Only 7 cases revealed new skin irritation in three-month follow-up after laser treatment. They were then again treated with laser and showed complete recovery and no long-term side effects. Conclusion:Public bathing center might be the main transimission pathway for perianal CA.CO2 laser treatment showed satisfactory therapeutic effects but little adverse effects.
