Research on the Effect of Buffer's Properties on Train Longitudinal Impact

The buffer’s mechanical properties have important effect on train longitudinal impact. By analyzing factors that affect train longitudinal force, an integrated model of train longitudinal dynamics was established. On the basis of simulating the longitudinal dynamics of 5000 tons heavy-load train, research on the influence of the buffer’s mechanical properties on train longitudinal dynamics was carried on .The results shown that the running distance, impedance force and capacity of buffer had decisive influence on train longitudinal impact; Enlarging the running distance of buffer properly was advantageous to release train longitudinal impact; Improving the impedance force unilateral could raise capacity of buffer, but it would also cause the increment of train longitudinal impact in service braking condition. The study results provide a certain basis for the buffer design and selection.
