Synthesis, structural and luminescence properties of Ti co-doped ZnO/Zn2SiO4:Mn2+composite phosphor

2014
Abstract Titanium co-doped ZnO/Zn 2 SiO 4 :Mn 2+ (TZZM) composite phosphor was prepared by the high temperature solid state reaction method. The structural and optical properties of the as-prepared samples were analysed by means of the technique of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy techniques. XRD analysis confirms the formation of ZnO/Zn 2 SiO 4 composite system. The strain acting on the system was estimated using Williams–Hall plot. SEM recordings showed a distribution of ZnO and Zn 2 SiO 4 particles of sizes ~1–5 µm. The luminescence properties are studied using 266 nm and 355 nm laser excitation. Results demonstrate the ability to tune the emission colour coordinates and the correlated colour temperature (CCT). This phosphor can be potentially used for optical display applications.
