NIF optical component wavefront measurement instrumentation and initial manufaturing results

Optical specifications for the National Ignition Facility apply power spectral density (PSD) analysis to restrict the influence of periodic frequencies over the range of 0.03 mm−1 to 100 mm−1. Phase measuring interferometry is applied to the measurement of such frequencies and presented here is a description of the instrumentation and example measurements on NIF pilot production optics.
