Clinical study of prophylactic use of methyl carprost suppository on postpartum bleeding in cesarean section

Objectives: To observe the effects of methyl carboprost suppository on reduction of postpartum bleeding in cesrean section.Methods: Fifty patients underwent cesarean sections,which have the risk factors of postpartum bleeding,were randomized into study group(n=25).Methyl carprost suppository was given in the rectum in the study group within 30 minutes after delivery.The controls were not given extra treatment.The amount of bleeding eithin 24hours after delivery was measured.Results: The mean of bleeding in study group was 389±60.2ml.In contrast,the mean amount of bleeding in control group was 422±63.0ml.The difference in the amount of bleeding between the two groups were significant(P0.05).Conclusion: Methyl carprost suppository is very effective in reduction of postpratum bleeding patients underwent cesarean section.
