Huntington's Disease

2014
Huntington’s disease is an inherited disease with an autosomal dominant pattern caused by a mutation on chromosome 4. This neurodegenerative disease is characterized by behavioral, cognitive, and movement disorder disturbances. Genetic testing easily confirms the diagnosis, however, counseling is highly recommended. A multidisciplinary approach to the patient's care with symptomatic treatment, psychological support, genetic counseling, and long-term planning are important elements of patient management as death usually occurs within 12–15 years of onset.
