Experimental study of penetrating depth of 41 MHz electric capacity field on animal models

2000
Objective To study the heat penetrating effect of radio-frequency projector with 41 MHz electric capacity on animal models. Methods The experiment was carried out in domestic pig and canine, their abdominal areas were locally heated by radio-frequency projector for 30 min and 45 min respectively. The diameter of electrode was 20 cm.Four optical fiber thermometers were separately placed on/in the skin, subcutaneous tissue or fat tissue, muscle and peritoneal cavity. Results After 30 min of heating, the temperture of muscle and peritoneal cavity in canine was 41.0℃ and 42.4℃ respectively, after heating 45 min,the temperature of peritoneal cavity rose to 44.8℃.While the pig being heated for 30 min,the temperature of fat, muscle and peritoneal cavity was 37.8℃,40.1℃ and 42.2℃ separately. On pathological findings, that congestion and inflammatory cell infiltration in the walls of intestine and colon as well as mesenterium were found. Conclusion The study shows that the 41 MHz electric capacity field(radio-frequency) can provide a safe and satisfactory heat penetrating effect without obvious fat overheating occurrence for experimental animals.
