Rapid identification and susceptibility testing for Staphylococci causing bloodstream infection

OBJECTIVE To evaluate automatic instruments for rapid identification and susceptibility testing for Staphylococci from positive blood cultures and approach the possibility of shortening culture time. METHODS Totally 87 GPC were correctly identified to the species level.For direct testing of susceptibility to antibiotics,VITEK 2 gave 93.1% Staphylococci with category agreement. RESULTS Using direct method,totally 87 strains were correctly identified to the level of species.For direct testing of susceptibility to antibiotics,VITEK 2 gave 93.1% Staphylococci with category agreement. CONCLUSION Totally 87 GPC were correctly identified to the species level.For direct testing of susceptibility to antibiotics,VITEK 2 gave 93.1% Staphylococci with category agreement.
