Study on knowledge attitude and practice of mothers on complementary feeding: its quality timing and necessity.

2001
In Bangladesh a considerable number of mothers are not aware of the right time to start complementary feeding. In recognition of this knowledge gap the Bangladesh Breastfeeding Foundation conducted and supported this study. This study report is organized into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the introduction and background of the study. The major findings of the base line survey are provided in detail in the second chapter. These include the background characteristics of respondents; current breastfeeding status and practices of mothers; attitude related to breastfeeding indicating existing knowledge; knowledge about complementary feeding; source of information and advise on complementary feeding; practices related to feeding the baby other than breast milk; quality of complementary feeding; and general questions on knowledge and attitude. Finally the conclusion and recommendations are presented in the third chapter.
