The title compound, C39H58N602+.2CI-.CH3OH, was synthesized as the lead molecule of a novel group of anticancer agents. The biscarbonohydrazide group in the molecule forms a complex conjugated resonance system involving the two 4-methylstyryl groups. Although the chemical bonding implies that the bonds of the molecule should have a mirror plane of symmetry, the molecule adopts an asymmetric bonding conformation.
