A New Generation of Non Hazardous and Environmentally Safe Metalworking Oils

1987
The development of environmentally harmless and non-hazardous neat cutting oils has been outlined here. Foremost in this development were the evaporation and oil misting characteristics, the toxicity of the base oils and the chlorine-free additives. Such neat cutting oils were developed by using a base-oil produced by Super High Pressure Hydrocracking, which offers a favourable cost-benefit ratio. A large-scale trial at a major German automobile manufacturer confirmed the good performance of the low misting, low evaporation and chlorine-free oils. The total oil pollution of the machine-room atmosphere was considerably reduced by the use of this new oil.
