Support Effects in the Ruthenium-Catalysed Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide

Resume La reaction Fischer-Tropsch a ete etudiee en presence de Ru supporte sur Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , MgO, TiO 2 , zeolithe 13X, 90:10 SiO 2– Al 2 O 3 et 50:50 SiO 2 -TiO 2 . Les proprietes d'adsorption, les activites et les selectivites des catalyseurs ont ete caracterisees. L'effet de support predomine en ce qui concerne la selectivite vers les hydrocarbures a haut poids moleculaire. La selectivite est independante du precurseur du metal, de sa dispersion, de l'acidite du support et (dans le cas de Ru/TiO 2 ) de l'existence d'une interaction metal-support. Abstract CO has hydrogenated to methane and higher hydrocarbons at 200°C catalysed by Ru supported on Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , MgO, TiO 2 , 13X-zeolite, 90:10 SiO 2– Al 2 O 3 , and 50:50 SiO 2 -TiO 2 . All catalysts have been characterised with respect to their adsorption properties, activities, and selectivities. The support effect predominates in the determination of selectivity for the production of higher hydrocarbons. Selectivity is virtually independent of the source of the metal, metal dispersion, support acidity, and (in the case of Ru/TiO 2 ) the presence of the Strong Metal-Support Interaction (SMSI).
