Intensive therapy of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion on diabetics with secondary sulfonylurea failure

2006
[Objective] To investigate the effect of intensive therapy of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) on Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients with Secondary Sulfonylurea Failure. [Methods] 78 patients were randomly divided into MSII group (42 cases) and CSII (multiple subcutaneous insulin injection) group (36 cases). [Results] The time when the goal of blood glucose control was arrived and the mean days of hospitalization,in CSII group was shorter than that in MSII group, and the total insulin administration dose in CSII group was lower than that in MSII group; fluctuation argument of blood glucose was decreasing in CSII group; the rate of hypoglycemia in tow groups was no difference. [Conclusions] For Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients with Secondary Sulfonylurea Failure ,CSII is better than MSII. CSII may be an ideal method of insulin therapy in these patients
