Hydrotest (DARHT)second axisfacility arescheduled to berefurbished withperformance andreliability upgrades. Therefurbishment process involves extracting eachcell fromtheaccelerator hall, performing acomplete teardown of thecell, reassembling withnew or modified components, fidulizing themagnetic axis, testing and certifying pulse powerperformance, andreinstalling into theaccelerator hall. Eachstepoftherefurbishment processis comprised of many complexsteps, necessitating attention todetails andfollowing strict assembly protocol toensurethathighquality cell assemblies areattained. Allthis mustbeaccomplished at 'Ka anaccelerated production rate tomeetthecommissioning 77= milestones oftheDARHT second-axis accelerator. To this end,LosAlamosNational Laboratory (LANL)has adopted theprinciples ofLeanManufacturing andapplied themtothecell refurbishment effort.
