Survey and analysis on current status of perioperative preventive antimicrobials use

Objective:To investigate the current status of perioperative preventive use of antimicrobial agents.Methods:611 cases of surgical medical records were randomly selected(36 cases each month) in our hospital during January 2009-May 2010 and performed the retrospective survey in aspects of rankings of sales value and frequency of drug use(DDDs) combined with the drug sensitivity test results.The survey data were carried out the statistical analysis on the irrational factors in perioperative preventive antimicrobials use.Results:Among 611 cases of medical records,the use rate of antimicrobials reached to 99.18%.Each cases used average 1.56 kinds of antimicrobial drugs.The rational drug use was only in 13 cases,accounting for 2.13%.Due to irrational use of antimicrobial drugs,the increment of cost was average 336.21 Yuan per case.Conclusion:The irrational phenomena of perioperative preventive antimicrobials use such as inappropriate drug choice,uneconomic,unsuitable administration and too long duration of medication are ubiquitous in our hospital.
