[Group A streptococcemia as a complication of intra-uterine device].

2 women presented with sepsis caused by Group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus as a complication of IUD. Streptococcemia of late an uncommon disease is a rare IUD complication. 1 patient died of fulminating sepsis. The 2nd survived partly due to early diagnosis and treatment. Awareness of this potential complication in fertile females is mandatory and must be excluded in a febrile condition of unknown etiology with an unusual presentation. (authors) (summary in ENG)
