Streptococcemia of late an uncommon disease is a rare IUD complication. 1 patient died of fulminating sepsis. The 2nd survived partly due to early diagnosis and treatment. Awareness of this potential complication in fertile females is mandatory and must be excluded in a febrile condition of unknown etiology with an unusual presentation. (authors) (summary in ENG)
