Effects of E. coil resistant mutation on phage lysis

2011
To investigate the effects on its virulent phage lysis of Escherichia coli resistant mutation. Methods First, isolate the chloramphenicol-sensitive strains and resistant strains from the excrement samples. Then, isolate the virulent phage lysis using the sensitive strains as the host bacteria and extracted the resistant plasmids of the resistant strains to the chloramphenicol resistant transformation experiment to obtain mutant strains. Finally, examine the sensitivity of the sensitive strains, resistant strains and mutant strains. Result The sensitive strains and the mutant strains are sensitive to the phage and has lysis effects while the resistant strains are insensitive and have no lysis. Conclusion The lysis of E. coli phage has no direct relationships with the resistant character and has strain specificity. The mutant strains(sensitive strains with chloramphenicol resistance) still have sensitivity.
