Cylinder deactivation during deceleration

2016
There are described methods and arrangements for transferring a motor from a state of the cylinder cut-off during deceleration (DCCO) to an operating state. In one aspect, starting Over guides from a DCCO with the pertinent reconnection of cylinders to pump air to reduce the pressure in the intake manifold prior to ignition of cylinders. In another aspect include the use of a skipfire operation mode pumping air via guides from a DCCO. After the reduction, the manifold pressure, the engine can pass either in a skipfire operation mode with cylinder deactivation, or other suitable operating mode. In yet another aspect, a method for transitioning in a DCCO will be described using a skipfire approach. In this aspect, the proportion of working cycles in which ignition occurs is gradually reduced to a threshold firing fraction. All working chambers are then deactivated after reaching the threshold firing fraction.
