Cutaneous Hemangioma of the Penis Successfully Treated with Sclerotherapy and ligation

1998
mity of the glans, we chose a combination of sclerotherapy and ligation as treatment. Two mL of 3% hydroxypolyaethoxydodecan polidocanol, the sclerosing agent, was directly injected through a 25 gauge fine needle into the lumen of the hemangioma. Interrupted ligations of 5-0 monofilament polypropylene were applied to the hemangioma at 2 mm intervals. A portion of the hemangioma in the prepuce was excised and served for the pathology examination which revealed cavernous hemangioma. The postoperative course was unremarkable except for a very small skin necrosis which healed spontaneously within a few days. The cosmetic appearance was excellent (Figure C).
