The experiment twas carried out at the Forage plant Field of the Departamento de Nutricao Animal e Pastagens of Instituto de Zootecnia, UFRRJ. Pearl millet Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R .Brown of ENA 1 cultivar was cultivated from March to June of 2003, in order to evaluate the effect of nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) leveis of (O and O; 50 and 40; 100 and 80; and 150 and 120 kg.ha•') and planting spacings (0,50; 0,75; 1,00 and 1,20 among rows) on the harvest of dry matter (DM). The experimental design was randomized blocks with split-plot; The fertilization leveis were applied to plots and the planting spacings disposed in subplots. Best results were verified with the spacing 0,50, 0,75 and 1,00 m between lines. The best levei was with the levei of 100/80 kg.ha•• of N/K. Key words: fertilization, dry matter, cultivar ENA 1
