Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities National Internship Program: A Means toward Achieving a Representative Bureaucracy.

2007
The U.S. government has long struggled with achieving a federal workforce that reflects the nation's diversity. This study evaluates the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities National Internship Program, which recruits Latino students for semester-long internship assignments with federal agencies. Having undergone the internship program, students are more likely to consider the federal government as a future employer than they were previously. Such internships offer the potential of improving Latino representation in the federal bureaucracy.
