INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE IN COMMERCIALIZATION OF A BIOMASS CONVERSION PROCESS

ABSTRACT An overview of the research and development activities of a commercialization program appropriate for biomass conversion processes is presented. The issues of duration and precedence of the numerous tasks associated with these activities are discussed. In addition, the issues of sources of funding and capabilities required for each of these activities are noted. Details of the case of Envirocon's program to commercialize the Waterloo SCP Bioconversion Process are presented to demonstrate the significance and interdependency of these factors.
