CULTURA E ATITUDE EMPREENDEDORA: UM ESTUDO EM EMPRESAS NO DISTRITO FEDERAL CULTURE AND ENTREPRENEURIAL ATTITUDE: A STUDY WITH COMPANIES IN THE BRAZILIAN FEDERAL

This article aims to discuss the relationship between culture – individualism/collectivism and verticalism/ horizontalism dimensions – and entrepreneurial attitude – implementation, planning, power and innovation dimensions. Concepts such as entrepreneurship, entrepreneur and entrepreneurial attitude are discussed. A questionnaire containing 36 items was answered in 2005 by 450 individuals from 33 Brazilian small, medium and large companies in the Brazilian Federal District. We applied descriptive and exploratory analyses along with standard regressions in the four dimensions of entrepreneurial attitude and hierarchy to verify the mediation effects between culture and entrepreneurial attitude relations, and the effects of moderation among them. The results indicate that culture manifestations predict entrepreneurial attitude, implying that it is directly linked to cultural, psychological and technological dimensions.
