Hydrodesulfurization of dibenzothiophene over Ni-Mo/TiO_2 catalyst

2010
Ni-Mo/TiO_2 catalysts were prepared by impregnation method using the formed TiO_2 as supports. Effects of MoO_3 loadings on the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) performance for dibenzothiophene (DBT) were investigated. The catalysts were characterized by XRD and BET techniques. The results showed that molybdenum oxide with MoO_3 loadings up to 10% was well dispersed as a monolayer on the surface of TiO_2 support and MoO_3 crystalline grain rapidly grew with MoO_3 loading more than 10%. The surface area and pore volume of Ni-Mo/TiO_2 catalyst were remarkably decreased due to partial pore blockage of support. The HDS activity for dibenzothiophene increased with MoO_3 loading up to 10% and then decreased with further increase of MoO_3 loading. Ni-Mo/TiO_2 catalyst exhibited better stability without deactivation after running for one month.
