Solid solution of metal oxides in the zirconolite phase CaZrTi2O7. II: The ternary phase CaZrxTi3−xO7

1992
Abstract The extent of solid solution of CaO, ZrO 2 , and TiO 2 in the CaZrTi 2 O 7 phase has been determined using powder X-ray diffraction methods. The CaO content always lies between 24.0 and 25.0 mole%, while the atomic ratio[Ti]/[Zr] may vary from 1.4 to 2.6 at 1300°C and from 1.2 to 2.1 at 1480°C. The relevant portion of the ternary phase diagram CaO ZrO 2 TiO 2 has been drawn. Structure refinement based on powder X-ray diffraction intensities has been carried out on zirconolite phases CaZr x Ti 3− x O 7 with x = 0.9, 1.0,and1.2: the resultant cation distributions agree with those from a previous study.
