“Daily Routine Life and Living Pattern; A Study among the Villagers of Car Nicobar”

2009
The standard of living pattern among Nicobarese is simple living. The minimum requirement must be fulfilled and by this way is the goal of peaceful living is attained. In the Nicobares society, social status depends on coco plantation, land holding and piggaries. No saving tendencies were found. It is a rather new trend because cooperative banks have been established. Major Income resource coco plantation, Areca plantation, Govt. Jobs, Contract labouring etc though all of them do not spend on luxurious items but they say that those items are necessary. Thus, the study reveals that villagers are familiar with DDT sprays and Pulse Polio Programme. But they are not familiar with laws concerning purity of food or medicine supply. They don’t have the nutritional knowledge of food. But young students know something about it.
