Faction Rekey Management for MANET

2016
In Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs), when a node sustains the authentication key for an extended time, then it paves all-encompassing way for adversaries. Hence, an efficient rekeying scheme is obligatory. In this paper an effective group rekey management approach for cluster based multicast security in MANET is proposed. This approach preloads every node with future keys and every node maintains a key update timer, which is used to periodically update its group key and a variable called group key version. During group key update, every innocent node needs to receive a certain number of encryption polynomial shares from its trusted neighbors and this guarantees that a node can compute its new group key as long as it is trusted by certain number of neighbors. The efficiency of our proposed technique is proved through simulation results. In this technique both reliability and security of the network is guaranteed in MANET environment.
