Synthesis and Characterization of the Monoester Compounds of Furoin

Furoin was synthesized with furaldehyde as raw material in the presence of VB1 as catalyst.Then furoin reacted with acetyl chloride,lauroyl chloride,benzoyl chloride,α-furoyl chloride or 3-α-furylacryloyl chloride to form the corresponding monoester compounds Ⅰ~Ⅴ with pyridine as catalyst and solvent in a water bath of 30~40 ℃.Yields of Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ and Ⅴ were respectively 97.3%,96.5%,97.0%,95.4% and 94.3% based on furoin.Ⅱ,Ⅳ and Ⅴ are new monoester compounds of furoin.By characterization with elementary analysis,mass spectrum and 1HNMR,structural formulas of the target products were distinctively demonstrated.
