SYNTHESIS OF 4-(1-PYRROLIDINYL) PIPERIDINE DERIVATIVES AS ANTI-BACTERIAL AND ANTI-FUNGAL AGENTS

Piperidine and pyrrolidine nucleus containing compounds have tremendous potential to exhibit antifungal and antibacterial activity. Considering this different derivatives of 4-(1-pyrrolidinyl) piperidine were synthesized. The identities of the compounds were confirmed on the basis of their spectral data and were screened for their antifungal and antibacterial activity. Among all derivatives, compound 4 and 6 exhibited significant activity on the basis of zone of inhibition and number of strains.. A naphthalene derivative 6 was the only analogue of 4-(1-pyrrolidinyl) piperidine which exhibit highly active against gram positive, gram negative bacteria and fungi.
